A Little About Me...

How I got my start down this path

My father worked downtown in Chicago as a comptroller. I suppose he inspired my respect of business, and helped develop my analytic mind. I was about 8 years old when we got a Commodore 64, and I fell in love with programming soon after. Even at that age, I appreciated the Zen-like state one can reach through pure thought and reasoning. The deeper structure of things has always fascinated me.

I am good at what I do -or- What I do is good for me

Nothing makes me happier than solving a decent problem. A web development project is like a puzzle just waiting to be put together. One of the best things about being a freelance consultant is that I get to work in so many different industries. Every business has their own challenges – and I thrive on analyzing each of them.

I am happy to temporarily relocate.

Another great aspect of consulting is being able to travel. Many of my clients are from the Chicagoland area, but I am far from root-bound. I have consulted (and lived) across the nation. I have also worked for some multi-national corporations – though I have not yet left the country.

Education

I take education pretty seriously. A couple years ago, I was asked to teach at my University - and have tried to teach as much as possible since. I also attend school as a student, at least part-time. I am currently pursuing my fifth degree: a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.

Hobbies

I am a musician and photographer. Cooking is a great passion of mine and I have been a vegetarian for almost 10 years. I enjoy reading actual books, mostly I prefer non-fiction (my library). I also like tea, billiards, darts, and video games.
